The Karnataka Free Sewing Machine Scheme is a welfare initiative launched by the Karnataka government to support economically weaker sections of society, particularly women. The scheme provides free electric sewing machines to help women start their own tailoring businesses, enabling them to earn a livelihood and become self-reliant. Under the District Enterprise Center Scheme, all districts in Karnataka invites applications for free sewing machines every year through an online. Eligibility Criteria

• Only women candidates from rural areas are eligible to apply.
• Government employees or their dependents are not eligible to apply.
• Applicants who have received a sewing machine or advanced equipment under the District Enterprise Center Scheme in the last 3 years are not eligible to apply.
• ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and those employed in government agencies are ineligible to apply.
• Each beneficiary is allowed to submit only one application.
• Only one person per family is allowed to apply.
• The minimum age requirement is 18 years.
• For the maximum age limit, please refer to the respective district notification provided below.
• For some districts, the minimum educational qualification required is 8th class. However, kindly check your respective district notification for specific details. If qualification requirements are not given, it means you can apply even if you do not have any formal education.

• Document with date of birth (SSLC Marksheet / Transfer Certificate)
• Educational Qualification (Transfer Certificate / Marksheet)
• Caste Certificate
• Income Certificate
• Aadhaar Card
• Valid Ration Card
• Applicant’s Passport Size Photo
• Confirmation Certificate from the respective Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Development Officer, or Taluk Industrial Extension Officer regarding the profession of tailoring
• Physically Handicapped Certificate (if applicable)

How to Apply for the Karnataka Free Sewing Machine Scheme?

To apply for the Karnataka Free Sewing Machine Scheme, kindly follow the step-by-step process mentioned below:

Step 1:

• Click on the “Apply” link corresponding to your district, provided below.

Step 2:

• Select your district and taluk from the dropdown menu (only districts currently accepting applications will be displayed).
• Enter your name, father’s or husband’s name, and select your gender and date of birth.

Step 3:

• Enter your mobile number linked with Aadhaar and provide your complete residential address.

Step 4:

• Select your educational qualification (ensure you have proper proof, such as a transfer certificate or marks card, to upload in the next step).

Step 5:

• If you are physically handicapped, select Yes. otherwise, select No.
• If you have a verification certificate from the Panchayat Development Officer of your Gram Panchayat regarding your profession of tailoring, select Yes. otherwise, select No. (Note: Without this certificate, you cannot submit your application.)

Step 6:

• Tick the declaration box, fill out the captcha, and click Submit.

Step 7:

• Now the application preview containing the details filled in the previous step will be displayed. Verify it carefully and click on Attach Annexure.

Step 8:

• Upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format one by one and click on Save Annexure.
• Verify all the details carefully and finalize your submission by clicking on Submit.

Once the application is submitted, save or print the acknowledgment for future reference.

Please note that after submitting the online application for the free sewing machine, take a printout of it and submit it along with the uploaded documents during online application submission to your district's Department of Industries & Commerce office for verification and approval mandatorily.

Selection Process

The applicants will be selected based on the number of slots available and the information provided during the online application submission. If the number of applications received exceeds the available slots, applicants will be selected though a lottery system.
